It’s kind of a big deal.
The Padres debuted their new Anchorman race on Opening Day and it’s easily the best new attraction at MLB stadiums this year.
Forget about new menu items, craft beer options or new amenities at the park, they’ve done studies you know and the Anchorman race is kind of a big deal.
Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which is home to the Padres, and $300 millionaire Manny Machado. While many fans are coming to the ballpark to see the high-priced free agent signee, the real attraction is seeing Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Champ Kind and Brick Tamland run the race.
There could be no other winner for the inaugural race than Mr. Burgundy, right?!
I mean, he is the Channel 4 anchorman with five Emmys and known around the country for his many leather-bound books and his apartment that smells of rich mahogany.
Of course, there would be no upset tonight as Ron took the race. It was a deep burn in his hamstrings after blazing the trail and thankfully, no men were killed by a trident in the process.
This race was so fun and while there wasn’t much in the way of drama near the finish line, it did provide more entertainment than Anchorman 2.
So next time you’re in sunny southern California and the weather is so hot that drinking milk is a bad choice, maybe you should take in a Padres game, and see who wins the next Anchorman race.
