Dodger Stadium Taking a trip to the ballpark is always an enjoyable time, but Dodger Stadium is one of a kind.

Opened in 1962, Dodger Stadium is located in the heart of Los Angeles and is home to one of baseball’s greatest franchises. The field overlooks beautiful downtown Los Angeles, and surprisingly it has never changed capacity. It currently seats 56,000, making it one of the largest parks to date.

The preservation of the field has made it one of baseball’s greatest landmarks. Every year the stadium is repainted, and full time gardeners come in each off-season to perform regular upkeep maintenance. Unlike many other ballparks of this day, Dodger Stadium is one of few that do not incorporate any sort of advertising in its title.

Dodger Stadium has always been known to be very pitcher friendly due to its immense size and its location near the ocean bank. Recent renovations have also increased the foul territories, making it even more suitable for some of the game’s greatest pitchers, including Sandy Koufax, Don Sutton, and Orel Hershiser. However, current statistics have indicated that over the past few years, the park has been essentially neutral in terms of pitcher and hitter friendliness.

Aside from the experience of visiting the park itself, Dodger Stadium has been known to serve some of the most delicious ball park food across the nation, including the infamous Dodger Dog. This foot-long frankfurter is consumed by millions each season, and its mouth-watering taste has left fans with a smile, even when the Dodgers are losing. Consumers have the option of buying either a steamed or grilled Dodger Dog, and most believe that the grilled is the better of the two. The grilled vendors are located near the rear end of the stadium to prevent smoke from distracting the fans at the game. Thomas Arthur has been accredited with the invention of the Dodger Dog, and there is no question that it has become increasingly popular among baseball fans all across the nation.

Fans who have attended Dodgers game may or may not have had the luxury of purchasing peanuts from Roger Owens. Roger Owens has sold peanuts at Dodger Stadium for roughly 45 years, and his unique technique has fascinated many. Whether it is throwing from behind the back, under the leg, or from a long distance, Mr. Owens has transformed peanut vending into a form of entertainment. He has appeared on several television programs, including the “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson in 1976. His widespread popularity has earned him several opportunities to vend at stadiums all across the nation. Fans that have had encounters with Roger are amazed at his life stories, which are told of in his biography entitled “The Perfect Pitch, the Biography of Roger Owens, the Famous Peanut Man at Dodger Stadium” by Daniel S. Green.

It is clear that Dodger Stadium provides an enjoyable experience for all who visit. While most classic ball parks have been torn down, Dodger Stadium symbolizes the beauty and preservation of one of baseball’s most historic landmarks. The field itself is remarkable, and the exceptional services inside the park make it one of the most unique attractions that a baseball fan can visit.
